Soap. It’s where it all began for us. We’ve been making bar soap since long before we started Tofino Soap Company and it remains at the center of our business. 

Not only are our bars created and decorated with beautiful, natural ingredients, but they’re hand-crafted with care and intention. Every single bar is made traditionally in small batches. 

Whether you’re new to our soaps or you’re a frequent user, we want to reintroduce you to our star product – the soap bar – and show you why this item means so much to us.

What Makes Our Bar Soap Different

There are a million bars on the market today and this begs the question: what makes our soaps unique? Our bars are inspired by and created with nature. We only use beneficial, natural ingredients, and our entire process is done with the earth in mind. This is what sets us apart:

Nourishing Ingredients

Although natural ingredients are important, there are many substances that come from the earth that aren’t valuable for our skin. We take it one step further and ensure that every ingredient is intentional and beneficial. We have listed some of our favourite ingredients from our soap bars below.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is an excellent natural moisturizer for the skin. Filled with essential fatty acids and omegas, coconut oil helps to strengthen the skin barrier, keeping moisture in and protecting against environmental aggressors.

Olive Oil

One of the most commonly used oils throughout history, olive oil has a plethora of benefits for the skin. Packed with antioxidants, olive oil protects the skin against oxidation and stress while its Vitamin E content soothes and moisturizes dry skin.

Jojoba Oil 

Jojoba oil is a beloved skincare ingredient because it is close in texture and structure to our skin’s natural sebum. Because of this similarity, it helps our skin to balance out its oil production, ensuring that it doesn’t get too dry or too oily. 

Kaolin Clay

This natural mineral helps to effectively detoxify and cleanse the skin. By absorbing excess oil, dirt, and other impurities, kaolin clay refreshes the skin without drying it out. It has also been known to tighten pores and help with the appearance of skin texture.

Pure Essential Oils

Used for centuries for their therapeutic properties, essential oils are used to treat everything from relaxation to acne. Our essential oils are 100% pure and never include filler ingredients. We add oils like lavender, neroli, balsam, and cedar in our soap formulations.

Sustainable Sourcing

On any given afternoon, you’ll find us foraging our ingredients locally on our property. In fact, we feature lavender, peppermint, and spearmint from our gardens in our soap blends. 

Engaging in sustainable practices is a core value of our business – which means we source ingredients seasonally and are very conscious of over-harvesting. To learn more about our sourcing process, watch the video on our site here. 

Unique Scent Stories

Inspired by the Island and its natural beauty, each soap bar tells a unique story. Every bar is  infused with a combination of the natural ingredients we mentioned above to soothe and nourish your skin.

• Calm. Featuring a combination of lavender, calendula, and chamomile, this soap bar relaxes the senses as it cleanses.

• The Woods: Reminiscent of an afternoon spent deep in the lush coastal rainforest, this bar contains an earthy blend of cedar, sage, spruce, vetiver, and balsam fir.

• Illume: This uplifting soap bar is sure to raise your vibration and energize your routine with palo santo, neroli, and frankincense. 

• The Waters: Refreshing and detoxifying, this bar rejuvenates your skin and your mind with spearmint, lavender, and cedarwood. 

• Wildflowers: This bouquet in a bar features notes of Nootka rose and yarrow – two of our most beloved wildflowers on the Island.

• Surf: This soap transforms your cleansing routine into a day at the beach with an invigorating combination of peppermint, sea salt, seaweed, vanilla, and eucalyptus.

Earth-Friendly Packaging

We strive to be sustainable in every part of our business, from sourcing to manufacturing and shipping. That’s why we are committed to plastic-free packaging. Instead, we use reusable locally handcrafted ceramics for items like candles, glass jars and biodegradable paper stock for our soap cubes & balms. The paper stock is made from 70% recycled paper board with no plastic coating.
