Sustainable Living: Why We Made The Switch To Noissue

We have some very exciting news to share with you, which we have been working on behind the scenes.

This is something near and dear to our hearts that we know you are going to be just as thrilled about…

We have decided to partner up with Noissue and Volerra Creative to create all sustainable and eco-friendly materials for your orders!

We have always reused bubble wrap sent from other companies or packed our products in the most sustainable way possible but there were some spots in our packaging that we knew could be improved.

Noissue’s mission is to support and empower the shift to sustainable business practices by building a community that can be better together. Something we stand behind wholeheartedly!

As we have been making changes such as this to the way we are creating, packaging, and shipping our products to you, we thought we would share some other easy swaps we have been making.

So if you’re as passionate about the environment as us and want to make a few more sustainable choices, here are some fun alternatives for you:

1. Reduce Plastic Usage.

Unfortunately, plastic has become a constant element in today’s society but there are so many amazing people coming up with wonderful alternatives these days. Although giving it up completely may seem a difficult task, here are a few small modifications that will make a big difference:

Instead of plastic options, try cloth reusable bags for shopping, beeswax wraps for keeping food fresh, paper straws for drinking, or glass containers for snacks. You don’t have to completely upend your life to make a positive impact.

2. Minimize Single-Use Products.

Thankfully there are so many other options available these days. You could bring a reusable coffee cup to your favourite cafe, refill your reusable water bottle before you head out on a local hike, or buy products that have more than one use for your home.

Our ceramic candle vessels are designed to be repurposed for a variety of uses. After you have used up the candle, wash with warm soapy water and you have a new coffee mug, plant pot, or storage container for pens/cosmetics.

We’ve also recently come up with a new fun way to reuse the card that comes in your package. Instead of leaving it blank or filled with words, we have printed one of our Tofino-inspired images on the back to be framed and used as artwork.

3. Swap Dryer Sheets For Dryer Balls.

Dryer sheets can be responsible for allergic skin reactions, migraines, and even breathing issues if we’re not careful. They’re also single-use products that are as bad for the environment as they are for your bank account. Wool dryer balls can last for years and give you all the benefits of dryer sheets with the added benefit of being somewhat customizable.

Try adding a few drops of essential oil to yours to really freshen up your laundry.

4. Use Washable Cloths For Cleaning And Makeup Removing.

You’ve spilled something on the floor and your first thought is to reach for the paper towel. However, by making a conscious effort to use a kitchen cloth instead you’ve instantly created less waste! Yay!

The same goes for your morning or evening skincare routine. By upgrading your everyday cotton balls and face wipes to washable rounds or towelettes, you’re choosing a gentle option for your skin and the planet.

5. Try Choosing Products With Less Packaging.

Whether it be bathroom products, makeup, or kitchen items, it’s hard to escape packaging completely but we can always try our best to reduce the amount of waste we create. We recommend making the switch items such as soap bars or dish washing cubes that come in biodegradable paper boxes or refillable items such as shampoos and body washes.

As we are making small shifts in the way we purchase and use products, we can also choose more eco-friendly ways to go about our day-to-day life such as biking or car-pooling to work, taking shorter showers, and turning off lights when we leave a room - just to name a few.

We think it’s important to acknowledge that small steps make a huge difference, so be proud of everything you do and know that it doesn’t have to be perfect.

We hope this inspires you to make a conscious swap in your life!
